Hello, everyone. My name is Alyssa, and I would like to thank everyone for
coming today. The amount of people sitting here says a lot about the impact that
my grandmother had on everyone’s life.
I see a lot of people from the town that my family and my grandmother grew up
in. My grandmother always loved the small town life. She loved that she could go
to the corner store to pick up a loaf a bread really quick, and then get caught
up on all of the latest town gossip. She enjoyed living in a place where
everyone knew every one’s name and there was no crime.
I also see a lot of people from the school where my grandmother worked for
years. Even after she retired, she continued to volunteer at the school. My
grandmother loved the other teachers, and all of the kids. She held the children
at the school very close to her heart, and talked about them often. I’ll never
forget the time I stayed up all night with my grandma to make two hundred and
seventy six goodie bags for the second grade Valentine’s Day party. She had to
make sure that each goodie looked adorable. Or the times that we baked cookies
for all of the kids. Their smiles were enough to make her day.
I see a lot of people from other occupations my grandmother held that
remained close to her heart. You guys were more than work acquaintances or
friends of the family. Instead, you became a part of our family. Everyone that
my grandmother held close to her was like a part of her family, and mine as
well.
My grandmother lived a long, happy life. She made an impact on the world
around her, spreading warmth and kindness everywhere that she went. I’m sure we
all have fond memories of my grandmother and her sweet smile. There was no limit
to her generosity or her kindness. I love you grandma, with all of my heart.
Thank you.
